SERGEI PARAJANOV: MADE IN JAIL

In 1982, while imprisoned in Ortachal prison, the great director experienced firsthand the Soviet regime's attitude toward dissenters. It goes without saying, he couldn't dream of any artistic endeavors, for even paper was under a ban. However, Parajanov found a solution, a creative one! He literally "created" a few decks of playing cards using matchboxes and bread crumbs. 
Presently one of these decks is exhibited at the Bidspirit auction. Another popular one is presented in the Parajanov Museum in Yerevan. There is no doubt that many admirers of the great director would love to have at least a copy of this rare item. That's why, for the 30th anniversary of the Parajanov Museum, SHARM Holding came up with a limited edition of the Master's cards. They are made according to sketches of the original cards, which are kept in the museum.
